About this site
I’m NickyDoes. *The Curious Doer* shares my project journeys—successes, failures, and lessons learned. The platypus, my emblem, reflects evolution’s power and nature’s complexity. This blog is for the curious, the makers, and anyone inspired to explore and create.
Welcome to The Curious Doer, where I, NickyDoes, share my journey through projects, ideas, successes, and the occasional misstep. This blog is about exploration, reflection, and the relentless pursuit of learning for practical reasons.
Why the platypus?
You can't miss the platypus. It embodies a fundamental truth: evolution is supported by observable evidence. In contrast, creationism and intelligent design are products of ancient imaginations, unable to grasp that complexity arises from chance, shaped by simple, ruthless rules like natural selection. The platypus stands as living proof of nature's intricate beauty, while ideas like intelligent design persist for social, not scientific, reasons—disproved fiction clinging on despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
A mammal that lays eggs, with a duck-like bill, webbed feet, and venomous spurs, the platypus embodies evolutionary traits from diverse lineages–highlighting adaptability and diversity in natural selection.
It also defies categorization, like me. My values and beliefs do not fit into common political ideologies and social identities.
What you'll find here
Current projects
What I'm working on, with notes on processes and challenges. I keep a top "A" project and several "B" level projects. When progress stalls or resources lag, I shift to a "B" project. Some "B" projects are frivolous, meant to teach or sharpen skills. Often, while on a "B" project, the solution for my "A" project appears.
Abandoned efforts
Projects I started but didn't finish, with lessons from their failure. As an inventor and entrepreneur, I'm driven to discover, but my practical streak always considers how to commercialize ideas.
Success stores
Completed projects that went well, with both wins and lessons learned.
